How to track twins in one baby log
To track twins in one log, add each baby to the same household and switch between them before you log. In Milkstop, every feed, sleep and nappy is saved to the baby you've selected, each entry shows who logged it, and your partner or carers can log too. It syncs when online.
We make Milkstop, so weigh our view accordingly.
Why one log for both twins
Two babies means twice as much to keep track of, and usually more people helping. Having both in one place makes the day easier to follow.
- One place to look. Feeds, sleep and nappies (diapers) for both babies sit in the same household, so you're not flicking between apps or notebooks.
- One handover. Whoever takes the next stretch can check what's happened for each baby without waking anyone to ask.
- Both babies visible. It's easier to spot which twin had the last feed and which one is due for a change when you can switch between them in a couple of taps.
- One record for check-ups. If your midwife, child health nurse or GP asks how things have been going for either baby, the history is there.
The same setup works for two under two: a toddler and a newborn can live in the same household too.
How to set up twins in Milkstop
You can do this in Milkstop on iPhone or at milkstop.app in a browser. The steps are the same.
- Add your first baby. When you first sign in, Milkstop opens the "Welcome to Milkstop" screen. Fill in "Baby's Given Name(s)", "Family Name (optional)", "Date of Birth", and choose Metric or Imperial units, then tap "Create Profile & Get Started".
- Add your second baby. Tap the gear icon to open Settings, go to "Babies in your household" and tap "Add baby".
- Pick a baby before you log. Tap the baby's name in the header and choose who you're logging for, or tap a baby in the "Babies in your household" list in Settings. The baby you're on shows "Active" in that list. Once you have two or more babies, the new-entry sheet also has a "Recording for" picker, so you can check or change the baby before you save.
- Invite your partner. In Settings, under Family & Household Management, copy your Caregiver Invite Code and send it to your partner. They join with their own sign-in, entering it as the Household Invite Code and tapping "Join Household & Continue". Our guide on how to share the log with your partner has the full steps.
- Log and check. Log your next feed or nappy, then check it shows under the right baby's name.

Keeping entries on the right baby
It's easy to log to the wrong baby, especially at 3am. A few habits help:
- Check the name before you save. Milkstop saves each entry to whichever baby is selected in the top bar, so a quick glance at the name before you tap Save is a quick check.
- Switch, then log. If you've just fed one twin and are moving to the other, switch babies first, then open the log sheet.
- Agree a routine with your partner. For example, whoever picks up a baby also switches to that baby in the app.
Logged to the wrong twin? An entry can't be moved to the other baby. Open the entry, delete it, then log it again for the right baby.
Can I see each twin separately?
Yes. Your history and charts show one baby at a time, following the baby you've selected. To look back on the other twin, switch to them. There isn't a combined view of both babies together.
Feeding twins at the same time
If both babies feed at once, log one entry for each baby: switch to the first twin and log their feed, then switch to the second and log theirs. Each entry stays on its own baby's record.
Milkstop doesn't tell you how much, how long or how often to feed. It's a personal log, not medical advice. If you have questions about feeding twins, your midwife, child health nurse or lactation consultant is the right person to ask.
Sharing the load
Twins usually mean more hands. Your partner, a grandparent or a night carer can join your household with the invite code, using their own sign-in. Everyone who joins can log for every baby in the household, and each entry shows who logged it, for example "• by Sam".
Entries logged without signal sync when you're back online. To see someone else's latest entries, pull down to refresh or reopen the app.
For setup and roles, see how to share the log with your partner.
Night mode
There's a dark mode for night feeds. Choose Light, Dark or System in Settings, and pick a colour theme (Sage, Blue or Pink) for each baby if you like.
Exporting each twin's records
Tap Export to save your records as a CSV spreadsheet or a printable PDF, one baby at a time, so switch to the twin you want first, then export again for the other.
What to look for in any twin baby tracker
Whatever app you go with, it's worth checking these before you start logging two babies:
- A separate profile for each baby, so entries don't blur together.
- Quick switching between babies, ideally from the main screen.
- Shared access in the free version, so your partner and carers can log without an extra cost.
- Offline logging, with entries catching up when you're back online.
- Export, so each baby's history isn't stuck in one app.
