Baby tracker apps without a subscription
Yes, some baby trackers work without a subscription. Milkstop is free to use, with no subscriptions and no feature paywalls, and lets you share one log of feeds, sleep and nappies with your partner. Other apps offer a free tier with paid upgrades or a one-off purchase; we list each, with prices checked on 20 October 2026.
We make Milkstop, so weigh our view accordingly.
Free, one-off or subscription: what the labels mean
App Store listings use a few labels that can be confusing when you're tired and just want to log a feed.
- Free. You download the app and use it without paying. Some free apps have no paid parts. Others are "free with in-app purchases", which usually means a free tier plus paid upgrades.
- Free tier with paid upgrades. The basics are free, and some features sit behind a paid plan. Which features are paid varies a lot between apps, so it's worth checking before you set up your partner and carers.
- One-off purchase. You pay once to unlock something, such as removing ads or a "lifetime" plan. There's no ongoing charge for that item.
- Subscription. You pay monthly or yearly for as long as you want the paid features. Some apps offer both a subscription and a lifetime option.
On the App Store, look for "In-App Purchases" on an app's listing to see what's on offer and the prices in your country.

Prices are from each app's US and AU App Store in-app purchase lists, checked 20 October 2026. The App Store doesn't always say which prices are monthly, yearly or one-off, so we've kept each item's own name. Prices change and differ by country.

What Milkstop includes for free
Milkstop is free to use, with no subscriptions and no feature paywalls. Here's what that covers:
- Logging: breastfeeds (with an optional note or durations), expressing, bottles, NGT, nappies, sleep, growth, and your own routines like tummy time or a bath, so it also works as a baby routine tracker.
- Sharing: create a household and share its invite code. Your partner, grandparents and carers join with their own sign-in, and each entry shows who logged it, for example "• by Sam".
- Multiple babies: add twins or siblings to the same household and tap the baby's name in the top bar to switch.
- Sleep and feed sessions: start a session from the dock and stop it when you're done.
- Dark mode: Light, Dark or System, with Sage, Blue and Pink themes.
- Offline logging: keep logging without signal; entries sync when online.
- Export: CSV or PDF, up to 5 exports per hour per household.
- History: Timeline, Trends and a growth chart of your own baby's measurements.
And what it doesn't do:
- iPhone and the web only. Milkstop is on the App Store for iPhone and at milkstop.app in a browser.
- No Apple Watch app and no widgets.
- No import from other apps. If you're switching, you start a fresh log.
How to choose
Whatever app you try, it's worth asking:
- Is sharing included at no cost? If you want your partner or carers logging too, check whether sharing sits in the free version.
- What's limited in the free version? Look for limits on babies, history or export.
- Is there a one-off option? If you'd rather not subscribe, see if there's a lifetime or one-off purchase.
- Can you export your records? So your history isn't stuck in one app.
- Does it work offline? Night feeds don't always happen with good signal.
- Does it run on everyone's phones? Check before you invite your household.
For a broader look at apps, see how baby tracker apps compare. To set up sharing, see how to share a baby log with your partner.
Milkstop is a personal log, not medical advice. If you're worried about your baby, contact your midwife, child health nurse or GP.
